STS Simulator training is mandatory for all Masters and Chief Officers.

Ship-to-Ship (STS) operations between tankers are recognized as highly critical and demanding maneuvers. During this simulator training, essential ship handling skills and emergency responses are honed in a completely risk-free environment.

The simulator sessions are focused on the following key areas:

• Tanker Handling & Mooring: The approach, berthing, and unberthing of tankers are practiced. The dynamic effects of wind, waves, and currents on heavy tanker hulls are safely observed and managed.
• Communication & Protocols: Standard bridge-to-bridge communication, POAC (Person in Overall Advisory Control) coordination, and tanker-specific STS checklists are strictly executed.
• Emergency & Cargo Scenarios: High-risk situations are simulated. Emergency breakaways during liquid cargo transfers, mooring line failures, engine blackouts, and sudden weather shifts are handled safely and efficiently.
